Bio

Kavayah Wright

Kavayah comes from a richly musical family, with artistry running through both sides of his lineage. His father’s side boasts internationally renowned musicians, including R&B Hall of Famer Betty Wright, funk legends The Brothers Johnson, and Grammy Award-winning Soul Train Legend Award recipients Kool & the Gang. On his mother’s side are accomplished performers and music educators, fostering a deep-rooted passion for music from an early age.

Introduced to music by his father, Kavayah began recording in the studio at just eight years old after receiving his father’s guitar. Over the years, he became proficient in all rhythm section instruments and now plays every instrument on his own productions. He holds a degree in Audio and Music Production from the New England Institute of Art and has earned numerous accolades for both music production and live performance.

Kavayah's extensive career has seen him travel the world and share stages with prominent artists, including Speech/Arrested Development, Urban Mystic, Gramps Morgan, and Ky-Mani Marley. His work reflects a deep understanding of music's transformative power. If not performing, he says he would have undoubtedly pursued a career in music therapy and sound healing — a testament to his belief in music's capacity to heal and inspire.

His dedication to this mission has shaped much of his recent work, focusing on educating youth about the importance of positive sonic influences. As the Entertainment Technology Coordinator for Boston-based Community Centers and Youth Initiatives, Kavayah leads progams that equip inner-city youth with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in media production and entertainment technology industries. He also serves as Director of Sound and Music for Jobe the Musical in Boston and consults with creative organizations on audio and music production.

Driven by a vision to create music that is both an auditory and visual experience, Kavayah continues to invest his time and resources into the arts. His current artistic pursuits include licensing his music for television and film, producing content for artists, and releasing his own works. He remains committed to using his creative gifts to inspire, heal, and uplift communities, always striving to serve the broader artistic landscape.
